Figure Sessions...and Vacation!

A few more figures from our Tuesday night figure drawing sessions. I used charcoal and Conte pencil over a wash of watercolor on Arches hot press. I have a few paintings for my elderly series and group figure show in the works but nothing to post yet.

I will be in San Francisco with my family next week for some play time, so things will be quiet here for a little while. Hope you all have a great summer!

New Watercolor Painting, "Out of the Shadows"

I came upon this group of women when I was in Tijuana, Mexico a few years ago. I almost didn't notice them becaue they were partially hidden in the shadows. It was seeing the generations of women, working together and selling their art that interested me. Hours spent sitting on crates, with babies and work on their laps, the younger women seemed content, or resigned, to follow in the path of those before them.

A Week of Gardening Indulgence

I spent last week working in the yard--spreading mulch, weeding and pruning until I couldn't stand up straight. Now all that's left is to kick back and enjoy!
