New Painting And A Busy Month!

This is a painting of my friend and fellow artist, Ruth. Ruth is 84 years old and her energy level would put a Jack Russell Terrier to shame. She is active in more art groups than I can count. Not only that, every year she puts up her tent and spends a week selling her art at the Three Rivers Arts Festival. For this painting, what I wanted to focus on was Ruth's strength, leadership and to include a little of her painting.
The Painter, watercolor, 28 x 22"

I'm getting ready to hang
my show at Westminster Gallery this week. On display through the month of October will be 22 figure and portrait paintings. Just finished putting all those frames together. Thank god I'm not into manicures, my hands look like a construction worker's!

Once the show is hung, I need to start planning a portrait workshop I will be teaching on October 23. I am looking forward to sharing what I've learned so far...as well as learning from others. What can be better than spending the day painting with a group of fun artists?

In November, I will be teaching a 4-week "Drawing The Human Figure" class. I love drawing! I am so looking forward to teaching this class.

On a different note, I was surprised, and excited, to learn that my painting, "Recollection" won second place in the Watermedia Showcase and will be published in the February edition of Watercolor Artist magazine.
