More Figures or...Trying To Retain My Sanity

What a struggle it has been this summer to work for an extended period of time in the studio. Not to bore you with details of a frenzied mom, but sometimes life can be ridiculously busy.

Oh, I can complain and moan about it (see paragraph above!) or I can figure out how to make it work.

My solution for now is to continue developing a series of nudes from our weekly figures sessions with a live model. This is a great way to experiment with materials and technique, as well as develop better drawing skills. Because these aren't necessarily finished paintings, I can work for a few hours and put them away. If I end up with a gem or two, even better!

From top: Blue Morning, Afternoon Siesta, both watercolor and charcoal pencils on hot press

Gorgeous, splendid nudes! Especially the blue. Keep them coming, I am intrigued.

Peggy, the blue nude is stunning. I wouldn't be surprised if this one spurs you onward. It IS a gem!

The angles of your first painting -beautiful!
-sigh, I should be practicing life drawing more!

Sharon, Wandamarie, and Jeannette,
Thanks so much. These are fun to experiment with.

Hi Peggi,

How big are these? How long is your figure drawing session?

Hi Karine,
These are relatively small, 11x14. Our sessions are 2 hours each week, although none of them were finished there. I take photos and finish up at home.
