Jake at 13

This is a portrait of my skateboarding, grafitti-art loving, sweet teenager Jake. I have been painting and drawing him since he was little but this is the first time he nodded his head in approval of his portrait.

This pose is so Jake. He is often deep in thought and likes to discuss some serious issues like religon, the universe and Seinfeld episodes.

This painting is one of a 3-part painting demo I will be giving in April.

This is wonderful. It's almost as if I could reach out and touch his skin. So luminous and lovely!

I love how you use your colors.

Peggi - You capture the moment that a person is in, not just the person and that is amazing! I so admire your talent!

Beautiful - the expression and colors make for such a wonderful mood to this portrait.

He's so cute. He's going to be hottie and break the girl's hearts.

He looks so much like you.

I had one of those also. He's all grown up now.

Thanks so much. Luckily, Jake is more like his dad than me at this age. My oldest son is my teenage clone (moody and strong-willed) and whew!, one at a time is enough!

lol moody & strongwilled I have one of those two, some days two of them. I try to think it is just the artist tendancy as I know they get it from me....or it could be payback ;)

I love your portraits, your use of color is so beautiful. I really like how you weave the blues throughout with the lost and found edged and little hits of blue to lead the eye, beautiful :)

Peggi, I just wanted to let you know that I chose you to receive the Passion for Painting award on my blog!

Superb portrait, a very powerful image. I have also tagged you for Passion for Painting, because you have!

Lauren and Sharon,
Thank you so much!!! It's nice to be recognized by my fellow blogger/artists. I'd love to play along, but since I have recently participated in a similar award, I'll have to pass this time. Thanks again for thinking of me.

Peggy, just ocurred to me that I haven't heard from you for some time -and discovered that somehow you've rolled of my blogroll - so I'm gonna put you back on! - this painting is very sensitively done and you captured his personality. Hope your foot is finally better?
cheers, jeannette

Jeannette,
Oh thank you for asking. It's been three months and, aside from a nasty looking scar, the foot is almost good as new. Great to hear from you!

Hi Peggi,

Apologies for misspelling your name on my last comment - sorry, I realized I messed up moments after pressing enter and I could not figure out how to correct my mistake.

Anyhow, this is just lovely and clearly your progeny! A nice pensive mood and masterful command of your medium.
