Oil Portrait, steps 1 and 2

I spent some time adjusting the drawing until I felt I had a better likeness. After two full days of painting, I have the large areas blocked in and most of the figure modeled. Next steps: Work overall adjusting and softening shadows and highlights, add detail to lower 1/4 of painting (arm and chair). Then comes the fun part, add tattoos, jewelry and other details.

it's very nice to see, how the contrast and levels are increased in the later painting.
