Emily's portrait

This is Emily, a very mellow, sweet dog. After I met with the client to discuss the details of the portrait, I took photos of Emily at her home. This pose in particular seems to capture her gentle nature. I kept detail in the face, but the background brushstrokes are loose and soft, the colors neutral. Her body and the background together make an X pattern with the focus (her face) being at the intersection of the X.
"Emily", watercolor, 12 x 12"
