New Oil Painting

This is a painting I did recently of Saihou Njie, a teaching artist and musician from Gambia. I met Saihou last year when we were "neighbors" at an outdoor art festival. Later in the year, Saihou came to Washington Elementary (my son's school) and taught the 4th-grade students the art of batik. What fun! He also demonstrated drumming and gave the students the opportunity to play drums and dance. Saihou's visit was a wonderful combination of art, music, culture, and a message of peace.
