Luke portrait, step 3

The details are done. All that's left is to put this away for a few days. It's amazing what that does to your viewpoint. Most of what seem like mistakes right now will look perfectly okay in a few days. There is an area around his right (the viewer's right) eye that will probably need to be softened. If I do it now, I'm sure I'll overwork it. I need the time away to be able to look at it objectively.

I agree....it's wonderful to see the stages of your portraits. Your work is amazing and I love your use of colour and form ~ :)

Thank you both for your kind words. I love how artists are always learning from eachother. I spend a good deal of time dissecting others artists work in order to learn more about their process. I often find they are more than willing to share what they know. We are a curious bred!

Drips-- Yes, Luke is a little clone physically, but he has very different personality than I did at his age. He is outgoing, funny and marches to his own tune--something I only dreamed about. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the painting yet. I looked at it after a few days and the right eye still looks funky to me.
