"Inspire Me Thursday" Gratitude

This painting is entitled "Beatitude" (pronounced bee-`att-i-tude) meaning extreme joy or blessedness. I believe that showing joy in your life is the truest form of gratitude. According to Catholic priest and writer Henry Nouwen, "Gratitude in the deepest sense means to live life as a gift to be received gratefully."

Happy Thanksgiving!

Firework of colors! Reminds me of the Brazilian drummers playing Batucada. So much energy and joy in this one... And I agree: Following your bliss is the best thing you can do and a true celebration of your life.

Is this straight watercolor? Or am I insane for thinking there may also be some pastel?

This really captures it--how'd I miss it? What a beautiful, joyous painting here!

I never know how to answer (where) back? So, I thought I'd just come back here... anyway, the portraits are 12x12 (inches). I dunno why but, I LOVE this size and the vast majority of things that I do (painting wise) are on this size canvas... plus, Pearl Paint sells them pretty inexpensively!

I totally agree: joy and pleasure = happiness and gratitude. Although hard when the going gets tough...

Thank you all for the comments.

H: To answer your question, it is watercolor only. You can achieve bright, vibrant watercolors by using pure pigment and less water. A few bold brushstrokes won't hurt it either.

Beautiful painting with wonderous colours. I especially like the different shades in the hands. The painting seems to sing too and make wonderful music.
