I liked working on the board, but I think I prefer my Arches paper. I felt confined by the predetermined size of the board and the dependancy on opaques to build the layers. When I tried glazing with transparent colors, the layers underneath were disturbed. I do like how the colors stay vibrant even after washing and repainting 3 times. I'm planning on trying the clayboard a few more times to experiment further with it.
I've titled this painting "Tosca" after my absolute favorite opera. I've often imagined how the story would continue if Tosca hadn't thrown herself off the balcony after finding her lover dead. This is how I have pictured the scene.
